The Care Bears Movie (1985)

Fans of rainbows, belly badges, and Saturday morning cartoons are in for a treat. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Care Bears Movie, Saturday Morning Cartoons United™ will host a special one-day charity screening at American Cinematheque at the historic Aero Theatre with a heartfelt nod to the beloved classic that captured a generation - all for a good cause.

Presented in partnership with American Cinematheque and Cloudco Entertainment, proud owner of the Care Bears™, the afternoon blends the magic of Saturday mornings in your PJs with an immersive fan experience, complete with a panel, pop-up shop, and interactive moments.

Following the film, the fun continues with a lively panel hosted by award-winning voice actor Eric Bauza, featuring The Care Bears Movie director Arna Selznick, original cast member Cree Summer, and YouTube personality Andre Meadows (@BlackNerdComedy). From behind-the-scenes stories to character shoutouts, this celebration is sure to lift spirits — yes, even Grumpy Bear’s.

The program will also include a screening of Nimbus, a whimsical 2022 animated short by Rémy Poisson, and an opportunity to shop merchandise from fan-favorite lifestyle brand Cakeworthy, known for its nostalgia-inspired apparel, giving fans a chance to take a piece of Saturday morning magic home.

Every item and ticket sold supports AnimAID, aiding animation professionals impacted by the California wildfires,  and Legends Animated, a nonprofit championing indie animation and community initiatives like the global 24 HOURS Animation Contest for Students.

The event also marks the soft launch of Saturday Morning Cartoons United™, a new original brand created by Los Angeles-based creative agency Sweet Streets, which is dedicated to celebrating the spirit of classic animation through curated, non-profit experiences and collaborations.

The celebration will take place at the American Cinematheque at the Aero Theatre, located at 1328 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403, and will run from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Doors will open at 1:30 PM and the show starts at 2:30 PM.

Tickets are available through the American Cinematheque website at www.americancinematheque.com.
